Phoebe as an Indian man I just want to say sorry. I know sorry is not good enough. This really breaks my heart. This not uncommon in India and it happens a lot and it makes me feel so helpless. I love my country and I know India is more than this. But it pains my heart to say that our country is not tourist friendly. It has potential to be tourist friendly due to amazing places but these instances need to stop. These sexual harassment cases are increasing so much. I know stereotyping is wrong but because of these cases stereotyping Indian man starts and I really cant blame people stereotyping us because its us who have placed ourself in this position. I hope your video get some reach in India so there is some awareness here. Thanks for sharing your honest opinion and again SO SORRY for whatever happened.

Post those videos AGAIN with ALL THE EVIDENCES. You really shouldn't have cut those parts out. Maybe they can be identified and put to jail due to international outrage or pressure? YOU SHOULD GET JUSTICE. YOU SHOULD PUT THOSE VIDEOS UP IN THEIR ENTIRETY!!!! I REQUEST 🙏🙏🙏 Maybe you will be saving other women getting sexually harassed by these men in the future. You're brave. Be braver only if you want to though. ❤

Hi! Thank you - I did not film the harassment while it was happening. The parts that I mentioned cutting out of the Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur video are vlogging segments of me talking about these instances after they happened, describing them while being very upset. When these things were happening in the moment it wasn't my thought to film them, I just wanted to get away safely as fast as possible and filming wasn't part of that. All my energy was focused on leaving the situation. I hope that makes sense - I'm sure some people would've handled it differently but that's what my instincts led me to do. Thank you for all the kindness and support, it's very much appreciated!

I am very sorry for your bad experience. I don’t understand why people have this fascination towards white tourist in India. I believe it goes back to white colonialism and what they learn in school. As an Indian, when my white friends ask me about India, all I say is won’t recommend India for you. Especially not Northern India which also happens to be in most people’s iternary. The thing is lack of education in northern India, the literacy rate is not that high there. I apologies again. I am sorry for it.

Come visit Kolkata (City of Joy) & in fact the whole West Bengal 😀You will definitely like it better than any other cities in India. This city really goes easy on foreigners 😅 if you can't trust me you can watch some of your fellow vloggers from US (Daily Max, World Nomac) or UK or other parts of Europe who have visited Kolkata and other parts of WB recently. You will see a whole different culture, you will find a more calmer and more sweeter part of India. And by sweet I really mean sweets from sweet shops that will increase your sugar levels 🤣. In the north of our state WB we have Darjeeling Queen of hills and Himalayas you can't and shouldn't miss. Pro Tip: Don't Visit Kolkata or WB during Durga Puja Festival (depends from September end- October end) if you are traveling for the first time. Because the whole state goes into a festive mood with pandal hopping so you are going to miss out the touristy things because roads will be blocked and you will find million people on the road just walking for miles. It's a different euphoria and should be done on 2nd visit 😂 only

Hey Phoebe, sorry to hear about your experience in India. As an Indian that grew up in the US, I would make some suggestions. Is traveling solo as a female safe in India? Yes & No. You have to do it the right way. Spend the extra money and stay in a proper five star hotel, Oberoi, Taj, Leela, ITC etc. Then book a proper guide through the hotel that they regularly use, not some local. This way, you can tell the guide exactly what you want and what you want to avoid, and they will follow your instructions to the letter. Last thing, In India, you have to be rude to a certain extent. You have to keep blinders on and keep walking, pretend you didn’t hear anything when someone asks you a question. Dont slow down for anyone no matter how nice they seem. Hope this helps. Ive added you on insta, feel free to message if you have any other questions. 😃

Hello Pheobe.. maximum people in the tourist industry who are guides and sellers of dainty stuff/mememtos are more like this, chasers/stalkers etc.. they treat women, especially foriegn women with fair skin as things, objects, not as a person. In most places in india, do not go out after dusk unless you have truatworthy company. Probably Pune and Mumbai are the only places where you can roam about safely in the dark hours. Delhi is known to be not safe for women after 7 pm. Couchsurfing groups in these citiea will probably help you get company for exploring the night life. Preferably go for a female who looks and feels safe in couchsurfing(cs). But still be safe and avoid lonely places with a bad vibe everywhere, be it mumbai, delhi, pune, newyork, london etc, irrespective the city/country. Its always better to be safe and on the safer side. Also always get to a local police station, have the police helpline number handy so that you can call them in India. You can also approach your embassy in that city, if the city you are visiting is famous for tourist attractions. The police/embassy will guide/help in some way.

Kudos to you for sharing this! It takes a lot of courage to speak up and out. This is the sad truth about India still. It is a beautiful country marred with men like these you met in your journey who just completely destroy the experience. Firstly, it is good to see you safe and sound. If you plan India, always and always travel with a local friend from India. Let them guide you and be with you during your journey. Just do not trust anything on its face value in India. I being born and brought up in India still am careful when I visit India with my family. Even I urge my non Indian men friends not to travel alone. You still are ok in the big cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, BEngaluru etc for most of the parts, however if you are venturing anywhere else always go with someone you know and trust.

Really sorry for your bad experience. As a tourist if you are not open and are conservative India can be a hard place to travel. Some Indians don't understand the limit to make others uncomfortable. I know it will defeat the purpose, but when you come to India and contact locals in all the cities you want to travel to, you will find people who would love to show you around without charging or scamming you.

Wow I watched your video because I got a couple comments on mine saying you had a bad experience and asking if mine was similar. While guys in India, and traveling in India in general, can be intense, it sounds like you had really bad luck! I solo traveled all over India for 3 months (booked my own trains, buses, hotels/hostels) and I didn't really have any issues. I also met lots of other girls who solo traveled India and loved it! Also whenever I had guys be annoying, other random guys on the street would get them to leave me alone. So yes - India is intense, but not every solo female traveler has a bad experience there. I'll definitely return to India again (even solo) to explore more places. And hopefully if you go back you'll have a better experience! ❤
